My interest in bird carving stems from several sources. First I love the outdoors and bird watching. That is undoubtedly an outgrowth from my freelance journalist career as an outdoor writer for 35 years. Also, my wife and I welcomed flocks of bluebirds to our Christmas tree farm often during the year but always in December.
I started carving nearly forty years ago as an occasional hobby, but recently retirement has freed up more time to travel to great bird spots and carve more seriously.
