2023

Plein Air Painting Group

Our 2023 painting season gets underway in April.  We will meet on the second and fourth Thursdays of each Month.  Our annual plein air art show will be held at the Palmer Public Library in November.  Anyone interested in more information should contact Bev Phaneuf.

If you would like to participate in our Plein Air group, please contact Bev Phaneuf to let her know of your interest.

Art Meets Poetry - Celebrating National Poetry Month 2023

 April 1st thru April 29th

Six pieces of fine art, donated by member artists of the Quabbin Art Association, will be on display throughout the month of April at the Clapp Memorial Library, 19 South Main Street, Belchertown, MA. Poets and writers are invited to view the artwork and compose a poem in response to a selected piece of art. All poetry entries must be original and unpublished, and all entries must be submitted to the library by noon on April 29th. Each entry must include the person’s name, e-mail, phone number, mailing address, and title of the poem being submitted. Each poetry entry can be submitted once during the contest; a poem cannot be submitted for more than one piece of art.

Each artist will select a winning poem, and winning poets will be notified by May 5th and awarded their prize artwork at the Quabbin Art Association meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at the St. Francis Parish Center, 12 Park Street, Belchertown, MA.

National Poetry Month, inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, is the largest literary celebration in the world.

2022

Plein Air Painting Group

Our 2022 season will get underway starting in April, with sessions on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. This year we also invite QAA members who are photographers to join us to share their interpretations of the same scenes. At the end of the season our paintings and photographs will be  exhibited together at the Palmer Public Library.

If you would like to participate in our Plein Air group, please contact Bev Phaneuf to let her know of your interest.

2021

Plein Air Painting Group

Thanks to everyone who participated in our fourth year of Plein-Air. Beverly Phaneuf did a terrific job of coordinating our spring through fall paint-outs. Although the season has ended for our group, we are looking forward to Spring 2022 and another year of great paintings.

Plein Air Exhibit

Thank you to our plein air artists for showcasing a stunning Palmer Library exhibit in November, and thanks to Tina Addison, Rick Guimond, Rosemary Chaban, and Nancy Guimond for hanging the artwork.

'Art Take Away'

Our second annual 'Art Take Away' exhibit, on Saturday November 27th was a huge success. Thanks to so many of you for generously donating your own fine art and/or artist materials allowing us to provide gifts to more than 200 visitors. Although blustery and cold, it was a festive day as our QAA event was just one small part of the Belchertown Winter Light Night '21. Thanks to Rick Guimond, Tina Addison, Dennis Burke, Sandy Burke, Anna Burns, Chris White, Nancy Birmingham, and Deborah Sacon for hosting this event.

Call & Response

During February Quabbin Art Association hosted a Call & Response event for our members. It was another way for us to stay connected and for participants to get to know another member of our association. We were challenged to respond to each piece of art that our partners completed. Work included all kinds of media. Check out some of the members amazing work on Facebook.
