"My process is about problem solving. I like the discovery that occurs by focusing on formal issues, such as color, shapes, line and texture. The multi-layered application of materials adds a degree of mystery and tension. The space and shapes are flattened; there are no shadows resulting in an overall pattern. The choices in creating paintings are limitless and very exciting, keeping me continually involved. I always work in a series format, so that I can add and subtract ideas and images. I believe that all work created on one subject, over an extended period of time, unites and intensifies the concept and imagery."
