MARTINA WILLIAMSON

Watercolor

I was born and have lived all my life in Western Massachusetts. I have always been a creative soul, I think it is the Aquarian in me. I started my love of fiber as a small child and learned from my mother and grandmother how to knit at age seven. I was fascinated at how a twist or pull of yarn coupled with a front or back swoop of a knitting needle created a whole new texture and design. I still love it, and so across the years I’ve gifted many sweaters, hats, mittens and gloves to friends, relatives and grand children.

My highest level of education is an MBA from American International College. I was an IT professional in the insurance industry for over 30 years.I enjoy learning new things and this trait served me well as my career saw punch cards come and go along with the desktop, laptop, internet, cell phones, Zoom and the ever popular iPad.

When I retired, I started taking a Watercolor class at the South Hadley Senior Center, with Tina Addison. My art is a product of this class along with some YouTube classes I have attended. I love the fluid dance between water and paint on paper. The result is not always what I envisioned in my head, so I step away, let it dry, and then add to it, and add to it again. I keep learning…..
