South Hadley artist Lucia Foley is inspired by color and enjoys the tactile pleasures of working with paint and brushes. She returned to working in watercolors and acrylics after a career as a graphic designer—and admits to sometimes missing the ‘undo’ functions offered by digital tools.
Beyond studio art classes in school, she has studied and experimented throughout her life with a wide variety of ways to make things, from metal fabrication to clay sculpture, decorative painting, paper cutting, stained glass and more. She taught theorem painting privately for 25 years in Westfield, and has a collection of over 300 stencil sets she created for designs she developed for her classes.
