Lisa Yeisley is an award-winning portrait and figurative artist based in Ware, Massachusetts. Born in Easton, PA, she has been drawing on every surface with whatever was at hand for as long she can remember. She studied Illustration at the Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts) and holds a BA in Cultural Journalism from the University of Massachusetts. After a career in graphic design, she returned to her love of fine art and enrolled in The Art Students League of New York for several years of intensive training. She continues to learn and grow as both an artist and observer, always striving to capture the beauty and complexity of each individual she draws.
Artist Statement
My graphite and charcoal drawings reflect a lifelong fascination with human nature and fleeting, often breathtaking, moments of mystery. A sudden twinkle in the eye, a furrow of the brow, a quick smile, a passing thought that sends the gaze heavenward… it’s these unconscious gestures, these glimpses of the inner life, that make my pulse quicken, and what I try to capture in my portraits.
