Joan Setkewich was born and raised in Western Massachusetts, attended The Elms College in Chicopee, MA and graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with a BA degree in Art and English Literature. For over 24 years she taught Art in the Belchertown, MA public school system and private classes in her home studio.
After leaving her teaching career in 2002, Joan continued to pursue painting in various mediums, exhibiting in several juried art shows and workshops. Included in her portfolio are watercolors, acrylics, and alcohol ink paintings. Most of the images reflect seascapes, marshes, landscapes, and floral designs.
Joan's inspiration comes from her passion and love of the sea and from travels throughout New England, the Midwest, and parts of Europe. Lecturing on several cruise lines has brought her to the Sea of Cortez, Mexico, Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, Greece, and Hawaii to name a few.
