Deborah Sacon has been creating dynamic outdoor scenes in oil, acrylic and watercolor for most of her life. Deborah earned a BFA in art from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, having studied under Walter Kamys. A longtime high school English teacher, she now also shares her love for painting while teaching high school art classes.
"During the summer and fall, I am often found somewhere in the Pioneer Valley, or elsewhere in New England: at the edge of a cornfield, in the pasture among cows, or in the woods beside a flowing river. My most recent landscapes, in water-soluble oil, are both abstract and representational. Now that I’m teaching art, I’m excited to share the works of artists whose paintings inspire me, including John Singer Sargent, Georgia O’Keefe, Vincent Van Gogh, and Ann Savage. My paintings show movement and spirit; of late, my concentration has been to depict the energy of changing light, shadows, and reflections in a way that both represents realism and captivates my viewers’ imaginations through abstraction".
